Amit Shah Promises to Open ‘Sheesh Mahal’ for Public Viewing Ahead of Delhi Polls

Amit Shah

New Delhi (National Times): Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah announced on Monday that the former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s official residence, referred to as the ‘Sheesh Mahal,’ would be opened to the public. The statement came during an election rally in Jangpura constituency, where Shah launched sharp criticisms against AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal and his government.

Accusations Against Kejriwal

Shah alleged that Kejriwal, unsatisfied with a standard residence, spent an exorbitant ₹51,000 crore on constructing the luxurious ‘Sheesh Mahal.’ He questioned the ethics of such spending, claiming the money belonged to the people of Delhi.

“In 2013, Kejriwal said he wouldn’t take a car, house, or security if he became Chief Minister. But he took everything and built the ‘Sheesh Mahal.’ Whose money is this ₹51,000 crore? It is the people’s money. I promise we will open the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ for public viewing. After indulging in corruption worth crores, should Kejriwal be trusted with power again?” Shah said during the rally.

Criticism of Manish Sisodia

Targeting former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, who is contesting from the Jangpura constituency, Shah accused him of betraying the residents of his previous Patparganj constituency.

“Manish Sisodia left Patparganj after deceiving its people. He thinks he can now make false promises in Jangpura. As Deputy CM, he opened liquor shops near temples, schools, and gurudwaras. He is the only education minister in the country who ended up in jail for a liquor scam,” Shah alleged.

“Bade Miyan, Chote Miyan” Remark

Shah also took aim at both Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia, calling them “Bade Miyan and Chote Miyan,” accusing them of cheating Delhi. The BJP leader urged voters to reject the AAP leadership, citing allegations of corruption and mismanagement.

Upcoming Delhi Elections

Monday marked the last day of campaigning for the Delhi Assembly elections. The polls are set for Wednesday, February 5, with results to be declared on February 8. In the Jangpura constituency, Sisodia faces BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah and Congress’ Farhad Suri in a high-stakes contest.

Shah’s remarks aim to rally support for BJP candidates while highlighting alleged corruption within the AAP government as a key campaign issue.
